April Ross is one of just a handful of female beach volleyball athletes to win medals in more than one Olympics. Alix Kallineman will compete with April Ross at Tokyo in order to claim her third gold medal during the next couple of days. Ross's aim is to get her first Olympic gold medal. As she is 39 this may be her final chance to do so. The athlete is optimistic, however most prestigious prizes are within reach. Ross told NBC Boston that he believes if they play their best, or even a good game, then they'll win the gold. This is why I'm going to try a little bit of luck too. Ross was born on the 22nd of October, 1982. She was raised in Costa Mesa California where she lived with her parents and her sister. While at Newport Harbor High School, she played in a variety of sports. She participated in basketball and the track as well as her volleyball skills in the indoors as a prep athlete. In her final game, she clearly stood out. When she played in her college volleyball years, according to her college profile, she played the roles of a middle blocker, outside player, and setter. The results of her efforts were acknowledged by her being named the 1999 Gatorade's Circle of Champions National Players of the Year. The award also went to her in 2000. Orange County Athlete of the Year trophy for volleyball. Ross and Klineman are performing their duties in 2017. In reality, Ross was already a respected player in the world of beach volleyball prior to they formed the team. In reality, she was the winner of many major events playing two other partners, one of whom is the volleyball legend. In 2007 through 2013, she was partnered by Jennifer Kessy, who is currently her coach. Alongside Kessy Ross was an ace in the international scene, winning the world championship in 2009. The two eventually clinched a silver medal at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Misty Maytreanor's legendary team and Kerri Jennings claimed the gold. Ross Jennings became Walsh Jennings partner in fate when Maytreanor decided to retire. In 2016, the duo received bronze medals in the Rio Olympics for beach volleyball. Ross played in the NCAA tournament who played for the Trojans at USC before beginning starting her professional career. The Trojans were in high school, and even years prior to getting on the beach to become a professional. Her time at USC was exceptional. It was her time to be an All-American as well as Pac-10 Freshman of Year in 2000. She also helped her Trojans reach the Final Four. The Trojans suffered a heartbreaking personal loss during her sophomore year and yet she came back her place as an All-American. After two more seasons with the Trojans she was instrumental in helping them win consecutive championships. As an individual she established herself as a legend by winning the Honda Sports Award for 2003-04. This prize was awarded to the top female college player of the year in America. Ross was a major in the field of international relations in USC. Unfortunately, Ross mother Margie was not able to witness Ross rise to the top levels of beach volleyball fame. Ross suffered the loss of the breast cancer that she battled in the year 2001. Ross was then a sophomore. She still holds her mother in her arms. Also, Margie remains a source of energy for her on the shore and in her daily her everyday life.
