In 2017, Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee released Despacito and it topped the charts for most streamed songs at the time within the space of six months. The single Despacito, a mixture of pop music with reggaeton, not only brought new interest to reggaeton but also increased interest in Latin music. Billboard's Top 100 had four songs predominantly in Spanish in 2016, compared to two in the year 2015. At the height of Despacito's popularity 19, 19 songs mostly in Spanish were included in the Billboard Top 100. The year 2020 will see there will be 41 songs within this genre. After Justin Bieber released his bilingual remix of Despacito in 2017, famous artists started to work with reggaeton musicians. Drake and Bad Bunny collaborated for the track MIA MIA (2018), while Madonna collaborated with Maluma on Medellin, 2019 In 2020, a few Reggaeton artists were complaining about the direction of their genre to the mainstream. Yet, a young generation, such as Rauw Alejandro was determined to continue the evolution. It was often associated with electronic dance and other styles.
